Kent State tops Western Michigan 73-66, advances to Semifinals

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - No. 3 Kent State beat No. 6 Western Michigan 73-66 to advance to the MAC Tournament Semifinals.

After leading 43-25 at the break, the Broncos opened up the second half on a 12-2 run and would get within two.

The Golden Flashes would answer with a run of their own, scoring 10-straight, led by Marquis Barnett who led all-scores with 18 points off the bench.

Owen Lobsinger was the Broncos’ leading scorer with 16 points and five rebounds.

The Flashes shot 47.5 percent from the field, but both teams struggled at the line at just 58.3 percent.

Up next Kent State will face Miami OH in the MAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday at Rocket Arena.
